Important information upon the euro introduction in Latvia

Taking into consideration that from 1 January 2014 Latvia becomes a member of euro zone and its national currency lat will be replaced by euro, be advised that Latvian lats in customers‘ bank accounts of Medicinos bankas will be exchanged in euros by set official exchanged rate, that is, 1 EUR = 0.702804 LVL. This account will be opened automatically to customers having Latvian lats in a bank account but having no euro account (the account number remains the same as of the account of Latvian lats). After changing the currency, the account of Latvian lats will be closed.


Cash transactions in Latvian lats in bank branches will be executed until the end of closing time of 31 December 2013.


Payment orders to transfer Latvian lats to other banks registered in Lithuania as well as foreign banks will be accepted until 10 a.m., 27 December 2013, and payment orders to transfer Latvian Lats inside Medicinos bankas – until the end of 31 December 2013.


Users of Medicinos bankas Internet banking system will be able to change Latvian lats until the end of 31 December 2013.


Please note that after 1 January 2014 all funds in lats remaining in customers‘ accounts will be converted to euros by transfering them to current or newly-opened euro bank accounts and maintaining former bank account number.
